An unsolicited testimonial for a delighted reader who SHOULD know:

"I think I was the first person to take the book "Dancing with the Captain" out of my local library.

It was absolutely delightful.

I have been a musician on many, many cruise liners and I thought the book caught the ambience superbly. And it was a first class yarn as well.

I have recommended the book to many people already and I have no hesitation in doing so to you.

I have been a musician on many, many cruise liners and I thought you caught the ambience superbly. The book was truly outstanding. I have recommended it to many people already and I have no hesitation in doing so to you.

I have played on the Iberia, the Canberra, the Aurora, the Oriana and the QE2"

 Sincerely, Tom Carlile

SAPPHIRE ... SO GOOD!

Hello USA! We're delighted to announce that Jack Dunnill's new novel "Dancing with the Captain" is now available in America at amazon.com for $16.99.

The author says: "We love your country and we loved the American people we met on the Sapphire Princess  cruise from Sydney, round New Zealand to Auckland. Even the man from Chicago who thought some of the passengers were “slightly unsavoury” was cynically amusing.

WHY ALAN HALE IS BROWNED OFF!

IT should have been a g’day but it wasn’t. Alan Hale, hero of “Dancing with the Captain”, was relaxing in his Sydney hotel before moving onto Melbourne to cover the famous horse-racing festival for the Daily News.

He was sipping a bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale, his favourite beer, and gazing down at one of his favourite panoramic views … the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House.

Then his office rang from England to tell him the earth-shattering news … Newcastle Brown Ale will no longer be brewed on Tyneside. The world-renowned “dog”, so-named because drinkers would make the excuse of going to "walk the dog" when nipping to the pub, will now be made in Tadcaster, North Yorkshire.

“Nipping out for a Tad just doesn’t sound the same,” said Hale to himself. Full story.

THE AUTHOR ... READ ALL ABOUT HIM!

Jack Dunnill achieved his boyhood dream of working in Fleet Street t the age of 25 and spent more than 30 years as a Daily Mail reporter. He has finallyfound time to write "that first novel". He had previously written plays and sketches, not for publication, but for performance by a local award-winning drama group, of which he was a founder member 23 years ago and is currently publicity officer.

Football fan, moderate golfer, hard-rock enthusiast and critic, he is a long-time traveller but relative newcomer to the delights of cruising. Married with two daughters, Jack has lived most of his adult life in the "Summer Wine" town of Holmfirth. He describes his wife Beryl, paradoxically, as "my biggest critic and supporter".
